Samsung has released its newest foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. We’ll also be looking closely at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in this post, covering all of its features, detailed specifications, and official prices in Nepal.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Overview
Design and Build
Okay, they’ve actually finally succeeded in completing their goal. Samsung has finally managed to create a gapless hinge for the Fold 5 after four laborious years in the foldable sector. I guess the fifth time really is the charm? Additionally, it is around a millimeter slimmer and 10 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 it replaces because of the new “Flex Hinge,” as Samsung calls it.
These are some really great things, but in terms of a sleek and lightweight design, they still fall short of devices like the Huawei Mate X3, Honor Magic V2, or the new Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. However, the primary display’s crease will be less obvious thanks to the redesigned droplet-style hinge.
The Fold 5 employs the same “Armor Aluminum” frame as the previous year, which increases durability. Despite the fact that Samsung has upgraded to the more recent Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection at the back and the cover display, which improves drop resistance against rough surfaces. Even while the majority of the initial leaks indicated that the Fold 5 will eventually receive dust protection as well, it only has IPX8 certification for water damage.
Samsung claims that its newest book-style foldable has been tested to survive at least 200,000 folds, just like its predecessors. Other than that, the Galaxy Fold 5 now comes in a few new color combinations. Along with the traditional “Phantom Black” finish, there are also “Icy Blue” and “Cream” options. All have glossy side rails and a matte finish at the back.
Display
So the time comes to the display, there isn’t much to be excited about. The front display is a 6.2″ Dynamic AMOLED panel with a 23.1:9 aspect ratio, HD+ resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. While the primary display, which is 7.6″ tall and has all the benefits of the cover screen, is smaller. The main display of the Fold 5 now has a peak brightness of 1,750 nits as opposed to the Fold 4’s 1,000 nits, which is the sole significant improvement.
Samsung hasn’t yet been able to integrate the pen into the phone itself, despite the fact that it is also S Pen compatible. Instead, the business is promoting a new “Slim S Pen Case” that, as its name suggests, is far slimmer than Samsung’s official Fold 4 case. Additionally, the revised S Pen Fold Edition is 41% smaller overall.
Performance
Performance-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor in a custom configuration. similar to the Galaxy S23 line. Just to refresh your mind, this “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy” chip from Samsung is about 5% faster than the standard 8 Gen 2. 12GB of RAM and up to a terabyte of storage round out the package.
In terms of operating system, the phone starts off with One UI 5.1.1 over Android 13. And it appears that Samsung hasn’t developed any fresh software tricks to go along with its newest foldable—at least not any fresh and intriguing ones. It still has the PC-like taskbar for fast launching or moving between apps, and it can now side-by-side hold up to four recent apps. However, earlier Galaxy Z Folds should soon receive this feature as well. Additionally, the Fold 5 will receive 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches, just like Samsung’s other flagship devices.
Cameras
Unfortunately, the situation in the camera department only gets worse because Samsung simply copied and pasted what was on the Fold 4. This indicates that you will receive the same 50MP ISOCELL GN3 primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical and 30x digital zoom on the back.
optical image stabilization is also retained by the primary and telephoto cameras. With a dedicated 10MP front-facing camera on the cover display and a 4MP camera tucked beneath the main display, you can also capture selfies with either of them.
Extra Specs
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a thinner and lighter body than its predecessor, but the same 4400mAh battery is still within. But with that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip that has been more optimized, it should still offer a considerably longer screen time. And the Fold 5 supports up to 25W quick wired charging for when you need to refuel it. with 4.5W reverse wireless charging and 10W wireless. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is provided for security purposes here.
